Students at the People's University, Beijing, give their opinion on UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown's visit to China, after he took part in a question and answer session with premier Wen Jiabao.

It's been great. This is an opportunity to promote friendship between the two countries. It's also been a good opportunity for us students to have a cultural exchange with the visitors at our university. The visit has great significance for our country in this special Olympic year.

她可能说的是49年后开始算的，因为英国50年代就和中国建交了，是第历史上一个承认中华人民共和国的西方国家。

50年代英国只承认中华人民共和国，但并没有和中华人民共和国正式建交。直到1972年美国总统尼克松访华过后，许多西方国家（包括英国）才陆续与中华人民共和国建交，只有法国是1964年和中华人民共和国正式建交的。可见，英国在外交策略上还是有它的狡猾之处的。我们和英国应该平等互助的交往，不可过高地看待它。
