IT Services will be moving your Exchange Server based Mailbox from an Exchange 2003 server to an Exchange 2007 server.
WHY:
* Exchange 2007 provides a richer Outlook Web Access (OWA)
* Upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 (planned for CFS clients in Q3 2008) is simpler if the mailboxes are already on an Exchange 2007 Server
* Enables 5-fold increases in default mailbox size. The NO SEND limit has been increased to 500MB - standardised for all users.
WHEN:
To minimise disruption during working hours the move will take place overnight (01:00-06:00) between February 15th and February 19th. Unfortunately as we have several thousand mailboxes to upgrade we are unable to provide specific dates on an individual basis.
In the unlikely event that you are accessing your mail at this time you will be automatically disconnected from the server - connectivity should be restored within 30 minutes.
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
You will not notice any difference in Outlook 2003 on campus CFS clients however, some or all of the following may apply
* The first time you connect to OWA after the Upgrade you will see a screen asking you to confirm your location (UK) and time zone, you can just accept the defaults offered.
* If you have a mobile device you may need to completely re-sync it once after the change. If you have it set to update all the time, you may notice failures from the early hours of the morning (when the move actually happens) until you re-sync.
* You do not need to change anything in the way you currently access your mail, on or off campus unless you use the IMAP protocol. In this case you will be required to move to the Secure IMAP protocol on your client. Please configure your email server name as secureimap.le.ac.uk (rather than imap-<letter>.le.ac.uk) and ensure that your client connects using port 993.作者: 兔兔 时间: 2008-2-21 23:09
