The new open-air piazza at Leicester market hosted an antiques sale yesterday.
Market Corner, which was launched last week with a range of hot food stalls, is also being used for special markets with everything from flowers to vintage fashion.
Leicester markets development manager Joseph Harkin said: "We're pleased to be able to follow the success of Market Corner's launch with this new antique market and are confident that this will broaden the market's appeal to new shoppers."
Items on sale at the antiques market included gardening tools, ornaments and old military hats.
The market worked with East Midlands specialists at Antiques2Go to bring dealers from around the region to the city for yesterday's event, which is set to be repeated weekly.
Linda Heritage, of Antiques2Go, said: "The central location, flexibility and atmosphere of Market Corner makes it the perfect venue."
Market Corner's new open-air piazza includes spaces for up to 20 gazebo-style stalls. Other future plans for the area include music stalls and a "retro" market.
The antiques market will be held every Wednesday, from 9am until 4pm.
