根据《卫报》报道，为了抗议英国政府对养老金的政策的修改不公平，数十万名公务员和公营事业单位(public sector)员工今日大罢工，National Union of Teachers (NUT), Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), University and College Union and the PCS,等等工会组织强烈支持罢工行动。
