Study Skills Course Arrival Information
Information for new students starting the Study Skills Course
Study Skills Course begins at 9am on Tuesday 6 Sept 2011. All
students intending to do the course must arrive at the main
university campus to register for the course by 9am Tues 6 Sept.
Students who arrive after Tues 6th Sept cannot be accepted onto the
course.
Where should I go on the first day (Tues 6th Sept)
Go to Lecture Theatre 1 in the basement of the
Attenborough Building,
on the main university campus for
your Study Skills Course registration, starting a 9am.

What do I need to bring to Study Skills Course registration?

You should bring:
Your passport
Your visa
2 passport sized photographs
Your UK postal address. Note that you need your full address,
even if you are living in university accommodation. for
example : Block A. room 101, Nixon court , 33 Putney Rd, LE2
7TG
Your University of Leicester Student Number. This can be found
on the letters which the university has sent you
The name of both the Study Skills Course, and the degree
course for which you have an unconditional offer, e.g. MA
Mass Communications
Your full Study Skills Course Fee £380 and 50% OF YOUR MAIN
COURSE FEE (see weblink ‘ Study Skills Essential Guide’)
If you need to register with the UK police, you will require an
additional £34 (in cash) and two more passport photos.
On Tues 6 Sept,
*We will process your payment of Study Skills Course and main
university degree fees
*We will register you for both the Study Skills Course and your main
degree, so that we can process a student card/library card for you as
soon as possible
* We will register you for a University of Leicester computer account
* We will register you with the University Health Centre
*You will meet representatives from local banks, so that you can
begin the process of opening a UK bank account
*You will have University campus tour and orientation with your
Study Skills Course tutors and a student assistant from the Welfare
Office
*There will be registration on main university campus for student nationalities required to register with the police in the UK.
*There will be an evening social event for Study Skills Course students and tutors
*All Study skills Course classes will start on Wed morning 7 Sept
2011. You will be given details of your class timetable on Tues 6 Sept
.

accommodation booking arrangements for the ELTU Study Skills

It is very important that you complete all of the Study Skills Course
(from Tues 6th to 1pm Tues 27th Sept), as you will be required to give
a team presentation and to write an academic assignment.
