News from LEU Chinese Society:
A special event to mark The Richard
Attenborough Centre’s 10th birthday year
Celebrate Chinese New Year with
The Silk String Quartet
– the UK and Europe’s premier
Chinese string quartet
Thursday 7 February
A unique opportunity to experience the very best in UK
Chinese musical talent as the Silk String Quartet perform
traditional music with their own interpretations, as well as
contemporary pieces. The four virtuosi, all of whom have
international reputations, were classically trained in China
and boast rich Chinese-Western musical educations and
experience. Since they came together in 2006, they have
performed at venues ranging from the Royal Opera House
and the National Early Music Centre in York, to Brighton
Festival and WOMAD. Renowned cellist Matthew Barley and
Blur’s Damon Albarn are just two of the artists they will be
working with in 2008.
