【公益】春节前夕当地小学校内传播中国文化

活动背景：

The Volunteering Team in the Careers Service are organising a Chinese Culture Exchange Day and are seeking volunteers that would be willing to share their experience of Chinese Culture.

志愿者工作内容：

Volunteers will be going into a primary school in Leicestershire to exchange traditions and values of Chinese culture to children aged between 4 and 12 years old. This activity based project will last from 9 am – 3.30pm on Wednesday 8th February 2013. Transport to the school and back to University will be arranged.

We are looking for students with skills or knowledge in one or more of the following activities;

    Chinese New Year traditions

    Silk knotting (teach the children to knot a bracelet or a key ring)

    Use of chopsticks

    Dumpling Cooking

    Paper Cutting

    Peking Opera and Face Painting  

    Chinese language – teach the children to say a few words

    Chinese writing

    Dragon Dancing (It would be very exciting to demonstrate this dance!)

You must have a passion for sharing the Chinese Culture and the New Year celebrations. You must have effective communication skills in English and the ability to work with children.

活动具体信息：

We will split volunteers into groups of 3 – 4 volunteers. Prior to the day, you will prepare a 40 – 60 min session with your team and deliver this to the children on the day.

There will be an information session for this, on Thursday 13th December 2012, between 5 and 6pm.  It will be held in the Career Development Service on the 2nd Floor of the David Wilson Library.
